Coac(hella) Far Away

Yessss, it's that time I've been waiting for! Just kidding. I'm still in the Philippines and across the world but unless you live under a rock, the whole world makes it a point for you to know first weekend of Coachella has begun.

Although it's a festival I’ve never been to, I’ve always been attracted to the idea of going. Talented musicians, spirited people, all in one place to enjoy themselves... in a desert. Sounds crazy but totally doable at the same time.

It's also probably the most expensive festival I've ever heard of. IMO, listening to live music should be more affordable or even free.

Should an experience to watch your favorite artist ever be that expensive? Not even. Should clothes be too? Never!

I can also imagine spending three days at a desert is overwhelmingly hot like it is in the Philippines so I got inspired to make a Coachella lookbook. For this occasion, I took a look through my mom's closet (the best place to shop) for some of these looks and found some awesome pieces to remind ourselves that it’s still about the music and not just the fashion (but never hurts too look cute too!)

Day 1

I usually like to take the casual and easy route when it comes to dressing for events like this.

I like an unusual one of a kind maxi dress with a deep V silhouette (which has been my favorite lately) because it makes me feel womanly (even if I don’t have a lot going on *ahem* up there) with the fitting and it's simple to wear. Even though I looove accessories, I’m never too big on it especially since I have a bad habit of losing a ton of jewelry anyway, so I wouldn’t risk it too much.

Too plain? Adding a playful statement necklace or wearing a head band would work depending on the look you’re going for. I suggest standing out from the rest of the flower heads.

Who I would be dancing and singing to - Tame Impala, Lykke Li, Flying Lotus to name a few.

Day 2

I know it’ll be suns out guns out, but when the sun’s gone it’s good to be prepared for a chilly night at the desert. This olive blazer is my mom’s and I love it because it has a boyfriend type oversized fit and hits where I like it. Since I'm petite, the fit balances something easy to pair with like a dress or this flower printed romper.

Who I would be dancing and singing to - Jack White, The Weeknd, Toro y Moi, Ratatat, Flosstradamus

Day 3

This outfit is a little like the best of both worlds if you’re hitting the pool and want to show off but still be a little more protected and not overexposed (still, it's a desert and of course people are practically naked). I love my usual earth tones but the Philippines has influenced me in mixing vibrant colors together, which is evident whenever I walk around here on the streets, at the mall, and when I look at the people.

Please excuse my lamok (mosquito) bites! They love my foreign blood!

Who I would be dancing and singing to - Drake, St.Lucia, Kaytranada, Jenny Lewis, to name a few!
